It was a little bit of a wait, but the best fish tacos I have ever had

We enjoyed a friendly Fish Taco lunch there today. Our waitress Taylor was very nice and treated us great. The Tacos and fries were delicious and very inexpensive,We will be back!

Staff was awesome, prime rib special was indescribable according to my wife and the Castaway Cajun pasta is a repeat order for me

Castaways has great food and continues to work on the ambiance of this little restaurant located in the heart of Mexico Beach. The owners are friendly and hands-on. The food is excellent - we had a group of 13 on Thursday night and everyone was very happy with the food. We've watched as they've renovated what was once a dumpy bar, repainted, updated the menu, added a great Saturday morning breakfast buffet (don't miss the best-tasting biscuits and gravy you will find anywhere), obtained their liquor license, and this summer, upped their game with additional updates to the interior. I hope they will continue this hard (and expensive) work, perhaps by adding music, and other cosmetic updates. The food is so reliably good, i can't wait to see this restaurant continue to grow!

Burgers are awesome! Breakfast was great...can't wait to do dinner!!

This was a great restaurant across the street from the beach. The staff were wonderful and I have never seen someone refill drinks faster. The food was outstanding. The fries were perfect as well. Our table's orders ranged from a burger to fish sandwiches. The grouper sandwich will have us coming back to have it again and try more of the menu. The burger was ordered medium and it actually came out that way. Make sure you add this to your visit list when in the area!

My family was in town for a week and even though there are many local restaurant choices, my family ate at Castaways twice! We had the same waitress both times and she was so nice and friendly and helpful. She told us her Dad is their chef and we were all very impressed. Every single dish we had we loved. The first time we came was for dinner and we made a return trip for breakfast.For dinner I had a shrimp pasta that had basil and tomato, it was big enough for 2 people to split. For breakfast I absolutely recommend the pancakes and the biscuits and gravy.Definitely highly recommend this place! They have a large patio with live music some nights as well.

Portions are on a smaller side, but food is delicious. I had smoked fish dip which was excellent and seafood platter which was decent. Entertainment was excelent.

One of the small restaurants on the beach. Servers were a little slow but were very attentive. We ate breakfast there primarily and they served a fine breakfast at a reasonable price. Also they took credit cards which is a plus

Ask for savanna. The food was absolutely delicious, but the best part was our waitress that made us feel like royalty as we sat on the deck and listened to Ronnie Randolph. Perfect end to a phenomenal vacation.

Owner and Chef Eric has the best fresh same day fried oysters around. Perfection! Tell him Joni’s cousin sent you!

Food is really good but a long wait sometime and I don't see the crowd to justify the time. But good food and live entertainment. So we go back.

Had dinner one evening and the Saturday breakfast bar all the food was very good. Service was awesome!

Let me start on a positive note. The food was good and the portions large; the establishment seemed very clean even if the building seemed a little old. The live music outside was nice as well. However, it took about 50 minutes to get our food. The manager did come by and apologize for the delay though. Our service wasn't the best. We saw the waitress a total of 3 times during our hour plus visit, but had a large gratuity added to our bill. Not a good decision for a family of five, budgetwise.

Food was absolutely wonderful. Service was a tad slow, but the food was fabulous.

Very friendly place with solid seafood and southern eats. Affordable and generous with portions. They unfortunately have to close between breakfast, lunch and dinner services because of how tiny their kitchen is.

We had the taco bar tonight and we all enjoyed it. My granddaughter had the burger and she said it was great. The staff was very friendly. We'll be back to try other things next time.

No one greeted us for about ten minutes until the cook asked us if we’ve been helped yet and we saw the cook more than the waitress. Also we weren’t given a menu until about twenty minutes after we arrived, the taco bar was stale and the waitress spilled tea all over the table and didn’t even bother to clean it up. I recommend killer seafood over this.

The atmosphere is great and they care about the community. The food is good and prices reasonable. If you go to Mexico Beach give them a try they deserve your support and you deserve their service.

The shrimp alone are worth the visit in this cute mom and pop restaurant located just off of I-10.

Super friendly staff. The food was very well done. The Saturday options are not vast but enough that all can enjoy. This place is hopping for the breakfast!! The crab cake had a nice crust, with a most interior. The chicken philly was superb. Prices are reasonable.

This place is awesome. First visited over spring break on a whim and it was fantastic, had to come back again during our recent visit to Mexico Beach. I had the chicken Romano and husband had shrimp and grits. So good! It's wasn't busy and the waitress was super nice.

My husband and I were at Castaway's for dinner while vacationing at Mexico Beach. I had the Castaway's Cajun Pasta, a small house salad, and Arnold Palmer tea. My hubby had their Seafood Platter with rice and salad. Both dinners were delicious, and our server, Taylor, was so friendly and helpful. Taylor's father is the chef, and her mother helps out in the kitchen part-time. I understand that Taylor's sister also works at Castaway's, but we didn't get to meet her. I highly recommend Castaway's for dinner, and we hope to try their breakfast before we leave.

Fried oysters and shrimp were wonderful! Best fries ever. Ordered 1 plate and split it and carried some of it out. Ate there 2 times. We will be back next October. .

First time there. Wait staff was very good. Food was ok, but compared to all food in Mexico Beach, I'd say, it rates as high as any others. The restaurants here are all mediocre and don't have much taste. The room wasn't crowded or loud, and it looked pretty clean. All in all, not bad, for MB.

Great breakfast, great lunch, great dinner. Price is right. Cater to locals which is much appreciated during off season. I’m not sure if they still have Thursday night Mexican bar but it ROCKS 🧜🏻‍♀️

Wonderful breakfast and service. Just missed the breakfast special pricing but worth it anyway. We're from WA state and tried the grits that everyone talks about-they were really good!

I've had the groupper sandwich at lunch and biscuits and gravy for breakfast. Both were very tasty! Place is very clean with a local dive feel. Prices are extremely reasonable.

We look forward to coming back here every year! The food is great, staff is amazing, the wait can be long but once you've had the food you'll completely understand the wait. They have all kinds of games to play while waiting/eating including live bands, karaoke night. We had the pleasure of meeting one of the owners while we were there and absolutely love her! Totally down to earth and fun! ( You guys need to bring back the delicious dip!🤤)

We stopped here and it just happened to be taco bar night. I way over ate. It was delicious and there was a great variety. Monica, Taylor and little Kaylee were just adorable. This is a great family restaurant.

Great food awesome staff😁 my waitress was so friendly I felt like I had made a new friend. Beverly the cook came out and sat down by me while I was she was sweet as well! I will be going back there and taking friend ASAP

food was old and nasty at the buffet. asked for lemonade got water with a lemon squeezed into it half the food at the buffet was empty. very poor experience for me ate a piece of chicken a wilted lettuce salad and a sip of lemon water got check and left.... Will not return

Excellent food, staff and atmosphere!The menu is small, but everything on it is executed well. I absolutely love the outdoor eating space. Aptly named "the sandlot," it is a large, sand-filled area, laden with picnic tables and a place for musical entertainment.

Possibly some of the best pasta I have ever eaten. The chef is experienced and it shows in his food.

The only reason they didn't get a 5 star review is when we come in they said sit where you want.ALL THE TABLEs WERE DIRTY WITH DISHES. SO WE SIT AND WAITED.??????? for 15 min. Finally I got up and moved the dirty dishes to another table.the wife wiped it down.still no waitress.i went and found forks.still no waitress.I went and found glasses and the tea. Still no waitress. The buffet was fair.the fried chicken was Awesome..no check. Well? Guess ill see if i can run the regester.we aren't the only ones fining for them self's..geez.the need staff.
